Presently, the training at NSTI Shimla is conducted in various courses under Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) & Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS). Directorate General of Training(DGT) in the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is an apex organization for development and coordination of the skill training including Women’s Skill Training. The main aim of this Directorate is to make India’s youth employable and to provide skilled manpower to the industry. The major roles of DGT are:- Policy formation on Skill Training, Laying down standards , Development & Revision of course curricula, granting affiliation, Trade testing & Certification.
